Immaculate Conception

This large oil on canvas revisits a theme by Phillip McKay exploring the beautiful and mysterious visual connection between the macro view of the universe and the micro view of human conception. With the birth of his son some 25 years ago, the first photographs of conception were being published and the artist explored these visual connections in a solo exhibition called Immaculate Conceptions.

Fast forward to 2024 and the reemergence of this theme presents itself in a large and visually striking artwork, created primarily through numerous glazes of colour. This artwork needs to be seen in the flesh to be truly appreciated.
